THE DARK KNIGHT Is Coming to IMAX for its 10th Anniversary

Ten years ago, Christopher Nolan’s second Batman film, The Dark Knight, hit theaters. The blockbuster was a major success, and stands today as one of the best superhero films ever made and a classic in its own right. To celebrate the influential film’s anniversary, select theaters have announced plans to re-release The Dark Knight on IMAX 70mm film for a limited time.

Beyond being a staple of modern pop culture, The Dark Night also occupies a special place in film history: It was the first movie to utilize IMAX 70mm film—fitting, considering its sweeping scale. In the years since, Nolan has become known for his work in the format, specifically on movies like Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. The work he did with The Dark Knight was pioneering, and now you can immerse yourself in Gotham by seeing the film on a giant IMAX screen, just as Christopher Nolan intended.

The following theaters will screen The Dark Night in IMAX 70mm once a day beginning August 24:

AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City

AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York City

AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco

Ontario Place Cinesphere, Toronto
