Everything You Need to Know About ANT-MAN

Marvel’s smallest superhero yet may also have its biggest heart. I’m not talking about some kind of congenital disorder; I’m talking about its emotional core. Ant-Man opened this past weekend and introduced hundreds of thousands of people around the world to Hank Pym, Scott Lang, Hope Van Dyne, and the size-changing superhero known as Ant-Man. While the film did an admirable job of explaining the basic relationships between Pym, Lang, and Van Dyne, it didn’t really acknowledge Ant-Man’s long-standing legacy in the Marvel Universe. Hell, the pint-sized pugilist was a founding member of the Avengers, for crying out loud. For someone who has been with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes since issue #1 in 1963, he deserves a little bit more recognition.

Of course, much like Iron Man 2 glossed over Tony Stark’s ongoing issues with alcoholism, Ant-Man doesn’t really delve into Hank Pym’s ongoing battle with mental illness or his history of domestic violence. While you should absolutely, unequivocally, 100 percent go see Ant-Man (I really liked it), you should also take a moment to educate yourself a little bit more on men underneath the insect-controlling helmet. Fortunately, that’s where I come in. On today’s episode of The Dan Cave, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about Ant-Man — all three of them. Yeah, that’s right, three of them. Who’s the third one? Well, you’ll just have to watch today’s episode and find out. Or you could buy my book, 100 Things Avengers Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die. Or both. Please do both.

And for something silly and Ant-Man related, watch me play a little game called “Ant Fact or Man Fact with the cast of Ant-Man:

What is your favorite Ant-Man story from the comics? What other heroes or comics lore would you like to see dissected and discussed on The Dan Cave? Let me know in the comments below.
