Everything You Need to Know About CAPTAIN MARVEL

Two weeks ago, Marvel made waves at San Diego Comic-Con with a flurry of high-profile announcements during their highly anticipated Hall H panel:

But the biggest announcement of them all was that none other than Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson will be playing Captain Marvel in the upcoming Phase III movie of the same name. With credits like Short Term 12 and Room under her belt, as well as an upcoming starring turn in Kong: Skull Island, Larson is an exciting, immensely talented choice to bring Captain Marvel to life for the very first time on the big screen.

Yet, this announcement was also followed by a deluge of questions:

  • Wait, who is Captain Marvel?
  • Well, which version of Captain Marvel?
  • Don’t you mean “Shazam”?

No, dear reader, I don’t mean Shazam. Points to you for being cheeky, though. And those questions are completely warranted, considering that at least SEVEN (!) people have borne the mantle of Captain Marvel since the character’s first appearance in 1967’s Marvel Super-Heroes #12, and the fact that the character’s history is more complicated than the rules to the Cones of Dunshire. So to make your life easier and to teach you about what you can expect from Brie Larson’s upcoming debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, on today’s episode of The Dan Cave, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers.

What are your favorite Captain Marvel stories? Are you excited to see Brie Larson in the MCU? Let me know in the comments below.
