Celebrating 25 years of music created for one of the most iconic comic characters ever created, Enjoy the Ride Records is releasing a special vinyl edition of the soundtrack album for The Crow. Scheduled for release on âDevilâs Night,â October 30, three variants will reintroduce this important but oft-forgotten piece of Crow ephemera, in deluxe new packaging.
Fear and Bullets is a soundtrack conceived by John Bergin and Crow creator James OâBarr in conjunction with a graphic novel first published in 1994. Later released in 1998 as a standalone CD, the collection features songs derived from and inspired by OâBarrâs work on the book, including tracks set to specific scenes and sometimes using lines of dialogue from actual panels. âThe music was right there, so apparent to me,â Bergin said in a press release. âThe dialog, the scraps of poetry between chapters, even the chapter titles themselves read like great song lyrics.â
Bergin curated this newly-remastered edition, which features a âBest-Ofâ collection of songs from previous releases, and includes two unreleased tracks. In addition to new liner notes, the LP includes original art by OâBarr, as well as a poster of his first-ever drawing of the character from 1980.
Only 666 copies are being issued of the release, in three colors: black-white swirl, a red/white âbloodshedâ edition, and a black-white split ThinkGeek exclusive. Copies go on sale on Enjoytheriderecords.com Tuesday, October 30, so stay tuned to the companyâs Twitter feed for additional announcements and updates, including for the upcoming release of an iconic ’80s synth score in full on vinyl for the first time!
âThe true sound of The Crow,â Bergin said. âItâs been quite a trip down memory lane putting this special edition together. I hope Crow fans enjoy it.â
