The Beatles’ Catalog Coming to Streaming Services

If reports are true, you’ll be able to celebrate a White Album Christmas on Abbey Road while wearing Rubber Soul shoes. Billboard is reporting that the catalog of the Fab Four will be available on streaming services on or around December 24th.

Apple Records, the Beatles label, was once reported to have signed an exclusive streaming deal with only one site. However, Billboard is also reporting that “most, if not all” streaming sites will be granted access to the catalog. So if you prefer Spotify to Pandora or Apple Music to Google Play, John, Paul, George, and Ringo will be ready for your listening pleasure.

This is not the first time the Beatles have been late to the digital party. Their music catalog was not available for purchase on iTunes until 2010, seven years after the release of the iTunes store in 2003. With streaming taking over everything from music to movies to television, it was only a matter of time before arguably the most influential rock band in history hopped on board the bandwagon. Imagine the possibilities: You will now be able to stream A Hard Day’s Night the movie while streaming A Hard Day’s Night the album at the same time. I wouldn’t exactly recommend it, but now you can do it!

So what do you think? Which Beatles album is your favorite? Do you think Pete Best will reap any of these benefits? Let me know on Twitter or get your tickets to the Ed Sullivan show in the comments below.
