The BANJO-KAZOOIE Spiritual Successor Kickstarter Has Been Funded, and Fast

Geez Louise, that was fast. Just yesterday the former Banjo-Kazooie team at Playtonic Games announced a spiritual successor to their old series, Yooka-Laylee. It took us about an hour to get the story up here on Nerdist.com, but I’m sure it took months, possibly years of planning for them to prepare their game idea for a Kickstarter campaign. It took less than thirty minutes for the game to reach its $270,000 funding goal. Moving at Barry Allen speeds are we, Yooka Laylee? It looks like the people have spoken: the thirst is real for a new, fresh, and colorful 3D platformer title.

The Kickstarter is now well into stretch-goal phase, having already broken the $500,000 barrier. Stretch goals include a local co-op buudy mode, 2-4 player local multiplayer versus, and simultaneous release across all platforms. If this all sounds swell to you, feel free to head on over and drop some funding for yourself.

While this news is quite riveting merely from the spectacle of a quarter-million-plus dollars flying onto a Kickstarter page so fast, it still doesn’t come as a surprise. When your resume includes a series as prestigious to the platforming genre as Banjo-Kazooie, garnering support for upcoming projects should be this easy. Good job, funders!
