Elon Musk isn’t the only maverick billionaire who wants to clean up in the electric vehicle industry. In fact, Tesla will soon be facing competition from a very monied man whose specialty is cleaning up. None other than Sir James Dyson is pledging almost three billion dollars towards creating his own electric car by the year 2020.
We here at Muskwatch are of course rooting for papa Elon, but honestly, increased competition in the electric vehicle space can only be a good thing, and was Musk’s intention all along. If we want to ween ourselves off of fossil fuels, we are going to need competition to galvanize innovation and drive down prices.
Also on the show today, Dan and I are breaking down smart tattoos out of Harvard, a personal jetpack competition from Boeing, and an update on turning Australia into a giant battery.
