Yesterday, we showed you the worldâs first look at a brand new motion poster for the upcoming Paramount release, Terminator Genisys, as well as the news that the first trailer for the film will be released this Thursday (December 4th). However, not ones to sit back and let the hype train pass them by, Paramount has released the first footage of the film in form of a fifteen second trailer tease to promote tomorrowâs big event.
It’s only four shots, but the teaser offers plenty of tidbits to dissect.
First of all, there’s some sort of new liquid metal Terminator. However, we donât know its model and whether or not is pre or post dates the T-1000 and T-X, both of which had liquid capabilities. Then thereâs what could very well be the time machine that makes the entire franchise possible. If so, this is a huge deal because it would be the first time the seriesâ time device has been featured on screen (not counting Sarah Connor Chronicles, of course, which currently sits in an alternate universe where Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation never took place).
Next, we have a shot of a bunch of nukes going off. Given what we know of the franchiseâs style, we’re willing to bet thatâs the image that will kick off the film with some voice over narration by one of the Connors or Kyle Reese. Of course, all of this brings us to the final, heart-stopping image of the man himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800, rocking a skinless robotic arm. Of course that leaves us to ponder why his arm is missing skin, but thatâs a question weâre sure the film will be quick to answer.
Overall, an excellent teaser with plenty for us to chew on before tomorrow. Good work, Paramount!
Terminator Genisys hits theaters July 1, 2015.
Are you excited for the first look at the new Terminator film? Let us know in the comments below.
Suspicious but excited! Loved the first two and saw the potential and ideas in the rest of the franchise. So despite the dissapointments, I’m giving the biggest action-star of all the benifit of a doubt.
Also, I’d love it if they brought some more “old” actors back, even if only for cameos (Furlong, Hamilton, Patrick…)
I liked Sarah Connor Chronicles and Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation were crap. I’m on the fence with this one. and yeah I’m with elSpanielo – F*ck trailer trailers.
Ugh, I seriously hate trailers for trailers.
