Telltale’s MINECRAFT: STORY MODE Arrives on October 13

Good news, blockheads! Those of you who have been waiting with bated breath to hear Patton Oswalt’s dulcet tones while you play Minecraft: Story Mode are in for a treat. In a press release, Telltale announced that Episode 1: “The Order of the Stone”, the first of the game’s five episode Minecraft series, will be available digitally worldwide on Tuesday, October 13 for PC, Mac, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. The game will make its way to iOS and Android devices two days later on Thursday, October 15, as well as the Wii U and the PlayStation Vita on an as-yet unspecified date.

If you prefer the tactile thrill of holding physical media in your hands, a Minecraft: Story Mode season pass disc will be available at retail on October 27 in North America and October 30 in Europe. The disc will grant access to the debut episode immediately, and will unlock the following four episodes as they are released digitally.

In what is arguably Telltale’s most star-studded cast yet, players will step into the shoes of a hero named Jesse. The male version is voiced by Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille) and the female version is voiced by Catherine Taber (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Venturing across the Overworld, Jesse and his/her friends must embark on a quest to prevent universe-ending peril by finding the Order of the Stone, a legendary group with mystical-sounding members like Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. You know, standard Illuminati-type stuff. Joining this pair of Jesses are Ashley Johnson, Brian Posehn, Paul Reubens, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, and Billy West. According to Telltale, additional casting details for the season are yet to be released. Personally, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Christopher Walken because why wouldn’t I?
