Telltale Games Reveals a MR. ROBOT Mobile Game

It’s here folks, the day two of our obsessions at last become one. Somebody finally decided to create a cool game based on USA’s gripping drama, Mr. Robot—and we’re all about it. Telltale Games and NBC Universal Brand Development teamed up to release Night School Studio’s iOS and Android-based game, Mr. Robot: 1.51exfiltratiOn, which is out now (review coming soon—stay tuned!). In addition to the news, Telltale released a fun behind-the-scenes video, which you can check out above. Also, just in case you’re wondering how this Mr. Robot recapper (and the rest of the MR fans in the office) are taking the news, see the GIF below.

That was your reaction too, right? Of course it was! The cool thing is the folks at Night School Studio are also huge fans of the show, and worked closely with its creator Sam Esmail to create the experience. The studio’s co-founder Adam Hines—a Telltale vet who worked on games like The Wolf Among Us, and The Walking Dead series—connected with Mr. Robot writer Kor Adana to hash out the plot.

Basically, what the game does is take the show’s plot, and extend it in a way that makes the player feel personally involved with fsociety as they prepare for the hack. Night School Studio co-founder Sean Krankel explained, “We’ve created an opportunity for players to meaningfully interact with characters like Elliot (Rami Malek), Darlene (Carly Chaikin) and Cisco(Michael Drayer), truly feeling like they’re joining the hack at a critical moment in the TV series. As fans, it’s nothing short of a dream come true for us.”

The experience will play out over the course of a week, in real time, making for an immersive experience. I for one am curious on how the app will work, and plan on going on the short  adventure this week. Are you planning on doing the same? What do you think of the idea?
