Teenage Mutant Ninja Slashers!

As Halloween approaches, it’s probably a safe bet that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be a popular costume this year. Not only have the heroes in a half shell been a fixture for kids trick or treating for years as is, but the foursome were treated to live action reboot glory courtesy of Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebesman earlier this year. With tons of kids dressing as Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael for Halloween, have you ever wondered what the turtles themselves would go as?

Dan Polydoris of Chicago Toy Collector has repurposed some TMNT action figures to imagine the brothers as some of horrors most notorious slasher killers! All of the classic killers are represented from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Halloween to A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. Polydoris explained on his site that he “kit-bashed about a dozen different vintage figures” to create the new slasher version of the turtles. As of now, he doesn’t have any intention of selling the reimagined action figures, but he does list the pieces and sets used to create Donny Krueger, Mikey Myers, Raph Voorhees and Leatherface Leo.

It’s a blast from the past to see all of the nostalgic detail that went into creating the hypothetical play set that Polydoirs named “Sewer Slashin’ Turtles.” I suppose the only thing left to be discussed is which movie monster would Master Splinter be? My guess: Rick Baker’s creature from American Werewolf In London!

  1. FAQ says:

Just a heads up to the world that toy customization and art toys in general are a huge thing that I would like to see more of on NERDIST.

  2. Kit Walker says:

Those are so good that I thought they were actual playmates toys when I scrolled across them on Facebook. Remember the Star Trek turtles?

  3. Suggestions says:

Casey Jones as Ash Williams, Krang as Basket Case, Splinter as a Gremlin, maybe April O’Neil as Pamela Voorhees?
