Nerdist Special Reports

Talking Marvel’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and ANT-MAN at SDCC

While the rest of America, myself included, is hooked on a feeling that Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best Marvel movies that they’ve made to date, we here at Nerdist are already looking to the future. Specifically, 2015, the year that we have so many high profile genre films that we may die from releasing too many endorphins at once. As a journalist, Comic-Con is a frenetic, hectic experience spent mostly huddled in press rooms, angling to get interviews with the people that others wait hours in line to see in Hall H. This year, Marvel made waves with the announcement that Guardians of the Galaxy would be getting a sequel in 2017, Ant-Man got a few cast member revelations, and audiences finally got a glimpse of some surprisingly grim Avengers: Age of Ultron footage.

Braving long lines, grueling temperatures, and a throat-crippling case of Comic-Confluenza (I swear I’m not cosplaying as Tom Waits’ voice box), I assembled an Avengers-like array of other journalists and we proceeded to interview the daylights out of Robert Downy Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), James Spader (Ultron), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), and Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) about Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and the overwhelmingness of being at SDCC. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to applying a salve of honey, lemon, and echinacea to my poor, battered vocal chords, and figuring out where I can get a suit as dapper as James Spader’s.

Did you get to see the Marvel Hall H panel? Which film are you more excited for? Let us know in the comments below.
