Supremacy Mode Unveiled for STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT

Well, that didn’t take long. After announcing that you’d be able to pilot the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Battlefront‘s Fighter Squadron Mode during Gamescom, EA and DICE have hit the web today to reveal the brand new Supremacy Mode. While some of the multiplayer modes available for the game will focus on close-quarter battle situations, EA notes that Supremacy mode will fall into the category of all-out clashes that take place on huge maps with ground troops, vehicles, heroes, and villains galore.

The mode will center around five control points which are scattered across the map. The aim of the game will be to gain control of all five, or the vast majority, before the round is over. At the start of the game, each team will have control of two, with the final point open for the taking. Once this is controlled, the points need to be claimed in a set order, which means there’ll be action going on at two different control points at a time.

“When you spawn into Supremacy, you don’t have to move far to see a lot of friends – and enemies. You’re thrown into a massive frontline, where your screen is filled with adversaries: infantry, Heroes, Walkers, and starfighters. You can prepare for very heavy and focused Star Wars™ action,” Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall stated.

Also, they note that every vehicle available in the game will be able to take part in the fight. Heroes and Villains will be around to join the battle as well. They’ll be equipped with unique abilities that will aid both sides. Darth Vader will be able to take increased damage before being knocked out, whereas Luke and Boba Fett are quick on their feet, allowing them to effortlessly alternate between attacking and defending. How you use them to your advantage is up to you.

According to the developers, Supremacy mode will feature the largest maps in the game. If both the massive fighting grounds, and the objective of the mode sound familiar, that’s because it can be best compared to the existing Conquest mode from the recent Battlefield games. Brännvall explained that they’ve altered the formula a bit by ensuring that players always spawn near the fight. This will hopefully do away with annoying campers that plague other shooters.
