Superman Will Guest Star in SUPERGIRL Season 2

This fall, Supergirl is switching networks from CBS to The CW for the show’s second season. And in the first two episodes on its new home, Supergirl is formally introducing the biggest superhero of them all!

That’s right, the Man of Steel himself, Superman is finally going to appear on Supergirl. The producer of Supergirl, Andrew Kreisberg made the announcement this morning. “Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

There was no casting news to go with that announcement, presumably because Superman/Clark Kent hasn’t been cast yet. In fact, that’s probably why the announcement was made today. You can bet that there will be a lot of actors interested in playing that role!

If the first season of Supergirl is any indication, we probably won’t see Superman very often on this series. But having an actor in place potentially opens the door for more Superman appearances both on this show and on the other CW DC shows. Can you imagine Superman guest starring on The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow? At this rate, The CW is only missing Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman from a potential Justice League of its own!

The second season of Supergirl will begin this fall. But we’ll probably learn who has been cast as TV’s new Superman within the next few weeks.
