LA LA LAND Duo, Rachel Bloom Write Songs for SUPERGIRL FLASH Musical Episode

The middle of the week is not kidding around with television news, friends. Sit down and get comfortable for this TV-Cap. We have information on the Supergirl and The Flash musical crossover, some thoughts about who might take over in the lead role on Doctor Who, as well as the series 10 premiere date, an interview with The 100‘s Eliza Taylor, and more.

Superhero Singing. The end of March will come with a present: The Flash and Supergirl musical crossover. While the story will kick off in the March 20 episode of Supergirl, it mostly happens in The Flash on March 21 in “Duet.” We can add a couple more things to the “all we know about the crossover” list because some songwriters have been announced. La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have penned “Runnin’ Home to You,” a song that will be performed by Grant Gustin. Also! Crazy Ex-Girlfriend creator and star Rachel Bloom has co-written “Super Friend,” to be performed by Gustin and Melissa Benoist. It’s a comedy song. Oh. Boy. [BuzzFeed, Deadline]

And So It Begins. Star Trek: Discovery has had a long voyage since it was first announced. However, production finally started on January 31. The above video teases some behind-the-scenes images, including a Starfleet uniform and some sets. It’s just the right kind of imagery to make fans intrigued. Our own Eric pointed out there’s a little Klingon touch in the tease, too. Read about it here at Nerdist.

Flipping Sides. Teri Hatcher is going to jump aboard Supergirl in season two. She once played Lois in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, but this time Hatcher will appear in a villainous role. She’ll apparently be portraying the next noteworthy foe for Kara and pals. [Variety]

Imminent Destruction. The CW’s The 100 is rarely in a place where you can say, “Well, at least this one single aspect is going well.” The characters in the post-apocalyptic/now pre-apocalyptic drama don’t get breaks, and it doesn’t sound like they will have time to breathe in season four. Sydney talked to Eliza Taylor, a.k.a. Clarke, on set about how Clarke will handle sharing the cheerful news about the world ending with the rest of Earth’s inhabitants. Read Taylor’s comments here at Nerdist.

Untangling Tangled. Disney Channel’s bringing Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene back in Tangled: The Series, and they’ve released a cute teaser featuring the voices of the two leads, Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. The stars explain what you can expect from the animated series. And hey, we have a premiere date. Tangled Before Ever After, the made for TV movie that kicks off the series, will air on March 10. Tangled: The Series will premiere on March 24. [TVLine]

For Your Calendars. BBC America has let us know when Doctor Who and Class will be premiering. You can catch series 10 of Doctor Who on April 15 at 9:00p.m. ET. The first episode of Class will air immediately after. [Entertainment Weekly]

Change? As soon as a Doctor steps down, speculation begins about who will step in to take the helm of the TARDIS in Doctor Who. One would hope the next Doctor would be someone besides a white male. It’s kind of funny that a show about constant evolution has stuck to the status quo for so long. But will they alter the formula? Kyle A. doesn’t think so. Read his thoughts here at Nerdist.

Photo Hustle. Snatch isn’t only a film anymore. Crackle’s bringing the property back as TV series. They’ve released some stills from the series, showing off Rupert Grint’s Charlie Cavendish and more. See additional pictures at IGN. [Image: Crackle]

Unhinged. If you can brace yourself for a hefty dose of creepiness, then you can handle this promo for season two of Bates Motel. There’s a whole lot of Norman and mom weirdness, plus the first look at Rihanna as Marion Crane. Bates Motel returns to A&E on February 20. [Deadline]

Turn the Clock Back. Actually wait, don’t do anything with the clock. That’s how Barry Allen gets in trouble all the time. Go read Joseph’s recap of the latest The Flash without altering the timeline and read his recap of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Have any theories about who Hatcher is playing in Supergirl? Share your guesses in the comments.
