“Summer Falls” by Amelia Williams Available as E-Book Tuesday

In this week’s Doctor Who episode, “The Bells of Saint John,” we get a brief glimpse of a book that Artie, one of the children Clara Oswald takes care of, is reading. It’s called Summer Falls and the author is Amelia Williams. Gee, I wonder who that could be. Clara asks him what chapter he’s on and he replies, “Ten.” Clara then says, “Eleven’s the best. You’ll cry your eyes out… the good kind of crying.” Now, you may be able to see what crying one’s eyes out means because, according to a tweet from BBC Books’ Doctor Who publishing team, the book will be available for download via BBC Books, as many outlets including SFX are reporting.

DW bookBased on the success of last year’s Melody Malone adventure as seen in “The Angels Take Manhattan,” this new Ebook will be available on Tuesday. The summary is as follows:

In the seaside village of Watchcombe, young Kate is determined to make the most of her last week of summer holiday. But when she discovers a mysterious painting entitled ‘The Lord of Winter’ in a charity shop, it leads her on an adventure she never could have planned. Kate soon realises the old seacape, painted long ago by an eccentric local artist, is actually a puzzle. And with the help of some bizarre new acquaintances – including a museum curator’s magical cat, a miserable neighbour, and a lonely boy – she plans on solving it.

And then, one morning Kate wakes up to a world changed forever. For the Lord of Winter is coming – and Kate has a very important decision to make.

Could this be an April Fool’s Day joke? Maybe, but they did actually release the Melody Malone book last year. So, look out for this tomorrow and see what all the weeping will be about.

  2. Kristina says:

Wonder if it will become available to purchase as a hard copy? I would love to have this in print format to read together with my 7-year-old daughter Cate – even more so now that I know the main character’s name is Kate!

  3. Lucy Cowan says:

I’ve read the first chapter of it. In my opinion it is a story written by Amy when she went back in time because of the weeping angels. She is trying to send some kind of message to the doctor but can’t use her name or his name because of timey wimey stuff but there are loads of references to him. In the book Kate asks a strange man “Who are you?” and he replies “Not anyone really. I’m just looking after the museum for a friend.” Then she asks “Don’t you have a name?” and he says I’m inbetween names at the moment.” Also a bit later on in the chapter she says “Why is your kettle in a tent? and he says “Oh that’s not a tent, that’s my shed in there. It’s in there for repairs. I would give you a tour but I’m not sure you’d like it much.” Shed? *Cough Cough* TARDIS! Anyways it’s amazing!

My thought about the cover is the girl is Amy, the blonde boy is Rory, and the black haired boy is The Doctor

Amelia Williams! AMY WROTE ANOTHER BOOK chapter 10 definetly has something about David Tennant since he and Billie Piper are back for the 50th aniversary

  8. XeniaHardwire says:

I have a feeling that we’re going to be on a 8 months scavenger hunt ’til the 50th. I read somewhere that the only plot thing they’ve released about the 50th is that it will involve paintings…coincidence? I think not.

  9. Travis says:

I’m gonna go ahead a pull some aggro but I didn’t really like Doctor Who that much until 11, so I loved Clara’s quote.

  10. Shannon says:

I do beg to differ, however: TEN is, no doubt, “the best”!!
