SUICIDE SQUAD Hall H Trailer is the Best Yet

Let’s just say, there have been a whole lot of Suicide Squad trailers and clips in the recent weeks. And with the movie coming out next month, we were sure the Warner Bros. Pictures Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday would release another, so the fact they did doesn’t come as much surprise–but the fact that it’s their best yet certainly does! With the last couple clips I thought “Oh, I got what kind of movie this is, I know what’s happening,” but I truly didn’t. We now know a lot more about the threat the Skwad is facing.

This isn’t going to be a regular smash-and-grab job like the inmates of Iron Heights are probably used to; it appears that Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) has the notion to use the world’s deadliest criminals to stop a metahuman threat. This makes it pretty clear–if it wasn’t already apparent–that Jared Leto‘s Joker is not the main villain at all, since there’s a giant swirling thing in the sky. That’s pretty telling, and also weird; they certainly lack in the flight-and-super-strength department.

But the real revelation of the trailer was that–gasp–it actually has a whole lot of Deadshot (Will Smith) in it. Up to now, most of what we’ve seen of Suicide Squad‘s marketing has focused on Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and the Joker, but I always thought it was weird that in a movie where massive movie star Will Smith is the topline celebrity, he barely featured in the trailers. But Deadshot is an awesome character and this trailer really showcases the kind of spin Smith is putting on Floyd Lawton. He’s gonna be a big part of the movie, for sure.

We’re ready! August 5, come on down!
