The reviews for the Warner Bros./DC film Suicide Squad have been all over the place, but no one can deny that the characters remain fascinating. Heck, if you take a look at any cosplay gallery from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, you’ll see Harley Quinn all over the place. About 90% of the Harley cosplay we saw was from the new film, (directed by David Ayer and played by Margot Robbie). With her multi-colored hair and updated outfit, it’s hardly a surprise that cosplayers would embrace the new look.
The film has been so controversial that there is actually a Change.org petition to shut down Rotten Tomatoes because some fans aren’t okay with the negative reviews. (Interestingly, this is happening before most of those fans have actually seen the film. We’ll leave it up to you to decide, though we’d love to hear from you in the comments on the subject.)
Whatever you think of the film (or the trailers and reviews if you haven’t actually seen it), you’re going to get to interact with some of the Suicide Squad characters in a different way. Today, the popular Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game is launching some of the characters from the film. According to a press release, the largest update for the game features Suicide Squad playable content, “including a new character and skins, special in-game events, rewards and more. Players can now assemble an all-star team of Super-Villains with the first playable debut of the assassin Deadshot and Suicide Squad skins of fan-favorites The Joker and Harley Quinn. Challenge, Multiplayer and Survivor mode have also been updated with exclusive Suicide Squad rewards including new companion cards.”
The press release also states, “Developed from the ground up by award-winning NetherRealm Studios, the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game delivers stunning graphics and a completely unique fighting gameplay experience. The game features a collectible card mechanic and engages players in 3-on-3 tag team combat that features many of DCâs most iconic characters.” The Apple App Store and Google Play have the update for the game which launched back in November 2013. The update will give you Deadshot (played by Will Smith in the film) and brand new Suicide Squad skins for Harley Quinn and the Joker (played by Jared Leto). You’ll also get film-based rewards in the Challenge, Multiplayer and Survivor modes in the mobile game. See? There is a reason to close out your Pokemon Go app (since those stupid Pidgeys are pretty much absorbing all your balls before running away right now) and play something else.
Have you been playing the game? Are you interested in the new update? Are you letting the reviews color your desire to see the film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
