STRANGER THINGS Demogorgon Costume Won Halloween 2016

Yeah, we know that it’s extremely subjective to say someone or something “won” an entire holiday, but we’re confident in our claim and, if we’re all honest with ourselves for a moment, can at the very least admit that this Stranger Things costume holds up as one of the most epic Halloween creations in years.

Now, we’re not knocking all the other Stranger Things costumes costumes that were out and about this Halloween (although there were a lot of Elevens), but any and all bonus points go to Indiana artist Carl Leck of CBL Imagery and his ridiculously awesome Demogorgon getup. First brought to our attention from a post on Laughing Squid, this costume is a thing of beauty for a few reasons. Most notably, the functional headpiece is a marvel of engineering that Leck was gracious enough to share a sort of BTS view of on his Instagram account.

While some folks would be content in making the toothed flower (we guess it’s a flower?) headpiece open and on display for everyone, Leck designed a mechanism that allows him to open the mask with a flick of his wrist. What’s neat about connecting such a function with his wrist is that it allows him to activate it in quite monster-y (real word) poses instead of having to pull at the back of his head or manually manipulate each face petal (flower anatomy is the only way we can describe it).

In his Halloween travels, it seems Leck met up with a few other Stranger Things enthusiasts who, thankfully, didn’t seem to have too much to fight about anymore since the events of the show.
