Steven Moffat Wins Special BAFTA

Sunday night, Doctor Who and Sherlock writer Steven Moffat was awarded a special BAFTA award for excellence in television. And who better to present the award to him than Sherlock and the Doctor themselves, Benedict Cumberbatch and Matt Smith? The pair give their respective show’s head honcho a funny, heartfelt, and charmingly awkward amount of adulation followed by a clips from much of The Moff’s writing. Moffat himself gives quite a nice speech, very befitting of the man who gives clever characters clever things to say. My favorite bit might just be the very old clip of him with the outrageously poofy hair. Fun fun. Congratulations, Mr. Moffat; I, for one, think it’s exceedingly well deserved.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Matt Smith are adorable together. I vote for Cumberbatch to be on Doctor Who very soon, possibly as Arthur Conan Doyle with the Doctor in a deerstalker?? Deerstalkers are cool!

  2. I was so happy when I saw this over the weekend. You can really see what the personality differences between Sherlock and 11 would be by studying the differences between Cumberbatch and Smith. Overall it was completely adorable. Of course I have a weakness for Steven Moffat. (Well all really good writers actually….)

@drew Cumberbatch taking over for Jonh Simm as the Master? Now that is food for thought.

That was lovely! Though I’m baffled as to why the clips included the Doctor-on-the-horse-crashing-through-the-mirror bit from Girl in the Fireplace. While the moment may have been good (*may* have), the effect was DREADFUL.

Still, that was loads of fun to watch. Thanks for posting it!
