Here it is, at last. The Dark Tower, a movie that we often feared would never happen is real, and it has its first poster now. It leaked online late yesterday, but was confirmed by Stephen King himself minutes ago.
Does it measure up to the Drew Struzan one Thomas Jane was supposedly painting at the beginning of The Mist? Well, that was never official–just a cool Stephen King easter egg for the fans. This is the real deal, and arguably the first time Idris Elba has fulfilled one of the many fan-casting fantasies that have been associated with him ever since nerddom became aware of who he is (as opposed to roles like in Pacific Rim, where we he delivered what we didn’t even know we wanted). Think this Roland Deschain could take out James Bond?
While the poster appears to be designed to be framed either “upside-down” or “right-side up,” and like the story itself, make you wonder which world you may be in, look closely at the negative space, which appears in the shape of a “light” tower.

As you can see from the urban setting, this isn’t quite the book’s story. It’s something of a “side-quel” that…eh, you know what? How about we explain it to you in a video?
Can you believe this is really happening? Are you pumped? Sling some comments around down below!
