Stephen Colbert and John Oliver Will Team Up to Host Post-Election Benefit

This might sound unbelievable, given how long it feels like we’ve been in the trenches of it, but this presidential election cycle will eventually come to an end. When that finally happens, two of our greatest and funniest political commentators, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver, will come together to host a post-election benefit event at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on November 19. The event’s appropriate title: Wow, That Was Weird: A Post-Election Evening with Stephen Colbert and John Oliver.

Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight, tried his best to not care about Republican nominee Donald Trump and the 2016 election as a whole, but he eventually threw his hat in the ring and came out with a hat of his own, one that reads, “MAKE DONALD DRUMPF AGAIN,” following a 20-minute segment in which he brought to light the origin of Trump’s family name.

As for The Late Show host Colbert—who, along with Oliver, is a The Daily Show alum—he’s been on the forefront of the political conversation since the election cycle began. He’s famously skewered Trump’s reaction to this year’s Orlando night club shooting, and his Cartoon Donald Trump and Cartoon Hillary Clinton segments hilariously made light of both major-party candidates.

Oliver has appeared on The Late Show multiple times over the past year, showing off fun chemistry during and sharp political discourse with Colbert. Also, the event will benefit the Montclair Film Festival, so it’s a win-win. Tickets go on sale today for Montclair Film Festival members and Friday for everybody else, so if you’re in the area, set yourself up for a super fun evening by grabbing tickets via njpac.org and Ticketmaster.
