STARDEW VALLEY Multiplayer Features Are Done, Beta Expected in Spring

When I want to relax after a stressful day and escape from the world, I turn to Stardew Valley. I’ve only been playing for a few months and love the quiet farm RPG that doesn’t make demands and lets me move the story ahead at my own pace. The game developed by Eric Barone, a.k.a. ConcernedApe, has gone through a few changes since its release in 2016, but the most significant update should be dropping soon: a multiplayer feature!

The addition of multiplayer means you’ll be able to share your land with friends. You can switch off on the more tedious tasks like planting and fertilizing while you feed the animals and make artisan goods. You can work together to collect resources, and you can even marry each other in game. Barone announced the multiplayer addition over a year ago, but in a recent update on the Stardew Valley blog, Barone shared the network coding necessary to make the game multiplayer is done, and they’re expecting to do a beta release in spring. That’s so close.

And multiplayer isn’t the only new content. Barone explained the next update will have a new town event, more NPC events, additional decorations, and signs, which you can see below. I wasn’t sure about the signs, but as someone who always forgets what I have in various chests, labels would be helpful for organization.

Are you looking forward to teaming up with others to tend your farm? Tell us in the comments and share pics of your current farm with me on Twitter.
