Disney recently launched their Star Wars Tsum Tsum collection and itâs been a huge hit with fans. Who can deny that cuddly wookieeâs face? Let the wookiee win, because heâs adorable!
More than collectible plush, these toys can sure tell a tale. This new video from Disneyâs âAs Told Byâ series uses the Tsum Tsum collection to retell the original 1977 classic, Star Wars: A New Hope.
Using just black ink on paper, A New Hope comes to life with the help of Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker tsums. Oh, and thereâs a few recognizable droids who help out along the way as well. As our heroes make their way through a paper universe, they not only encounter the Dark Sideâs stormtroopers and Vader, but a creepy trash compactor Dianoga as well. Ew! Thank goodness that wasnât turned into a Tsum Tsum.
Recognizable scenes are recreated as familiar ships, locales, and moons– I mean, space stations appear as backdrops for our heroesâ journey through the story. The page turns and music changes make scenes emotional, even as told with small pieces of fluffy cuteness. The video is audibly wordless, but classic lines pull at your heartstrings in big moments of reveal.
The best part of the video may be the very end, when Chewbacca says what weâve all been thinking since 1977.
