STAR WARS’ “The Force Theme” Played Beautifully on Violin… with Lightsabers!

We already knew that the lightsaber was an elegant weapon for a more civilized age, but it turns out it can also be used to make beautiful music on a most elegant instrument when deftly handled by a Jedi Master violinist.

Jeffrey Ding He has put together this wonderful cover of Star Wars iconic “The Force Theme,” playing multiple parts with his violin, and using lightsabers to do it. I suppose they might not be real lightsabers, but anyone who can play a violin passes as strong with the Force in my eyes, so I’ll continue to think they’re real. I mean, who said a lightsaber can only be used for battling Sith and deflecting blasters anyway?

“The Force Theme” is unquestionably one of the prettiest songs from John WilliamsStar Wars score, and this violin version does it justice. You can compare this cover to the original version here.

Using a lightsaber to play a Star Wars song is certainly a nice touch for the aesthetics of the video (as were the robes and different colored lightsabers), but just make sure, if you try this yourself, you don’t accidentally slip and cut off your own hand. Real tough to play the violin without a hand, especially considering how hard it appears to be to play it with two.

What other Star Wars songs would you like to see Jeffrey play next using his violin and his lightsaber? Give us your best, most elegant suggestions right here in the civilized comments section below.
