If you’ve been to San Deigo during Comic-Con season, you know that they put a lot of effort into making the city “pop-culture presentable.” One of the biggest things they do is give their trolley cars a makeover to reflect the biggest attractions SDCC has to offer. Japan has taken this idea a step furtherâbecause of course they have, they’re Japanâupgrading their mass transit with an exterior paint job homage to the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Recently, the Nankai Rapi:t train service was given the interior/exterior make-over to make sure the whole entire world’s aware of The Force Awakens (as if we weren’t already!). Based on these images of the front side of the trainâpainted in all black and adorned with various charactersâthere seems to be a missed opportunity here: why didn’t they make the front of the train look like Kylo Ren or Darth Vader? I mean that front-end is basically a Sith mask in real life.
Here is another shot of the exterior of the train.
And here’s interior, also covered in Star Wars. It may not seem like you’re actually in the Millenium Falcon, but it certainly gets this particular fan jazzed for December 18th.
You can check out more pictures from the train in the gallery below. As of yet there is no confirmation if part of the remodel includes achieving .5 past lightspeed.
The new designâwhich travels between Kansai International Airport and Osaka Cityâs Namba Stationâruns until next May.
