New Details About STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS’ Final Scene and [SPOILER’S] Location

There are major spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It may be the all-time domestic box office champion by the time that you read this, but anyone who hasn’t seen The Force Awakens yet should stop reading now!

Still with us? Good.

At the very beginning of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it is revealed that Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has seemingly vanished; aptly, and he remains absent for most of the movie. Both the First Order and the Resistance put great effort toward finding him, but it is only in the last few minutes of the movie that Luke’s whereabouts are revealed, albeit without so much as a word.

WGA members have now gotten their hands on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens script, which includes the name of the planet where Rey (Daisy Ridley) finally comes face-to-face with Luke. The planet is called Ahch-To, and although that detail isn’t overtly mentioned in the movie, Lucasfilm’s Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo has confirmed it.

During the film, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) speculates that Luke has been off searching for the first Jedi temple. According to the junior novelization of The Force Awakens, the first Jedi temple was located on Ahch-To. That suggests that Luke has found what he was looking for, but it doesn’t elaborate on whether it will help him undo the reign of terror caused by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. In The Force Awakens, the sequence on Ahch-To was filmed in the ruins of a monastery located in Skellig Michael, Ireland.

Further details about the first Jedi temple and Luke’s activities are likely to be revealed in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is slated to be released on May 26, 2017.
