New ROGUE ONE Character Posters Just Blue Our Minds

It felt like Christmas came early last week for Star Wars fans hungry to return to the galaxy far, far away. Although the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is still a little over two months away, Disney and Lucasfilm whetted our appetite with a brand new trailer and a poster for the forthcoming anthology film. On Monday morning, Disney kept the good times rolling with a new batch of character posters, featuring the heroes and villain of Rogue One. While it doesn’t make the wait go by any faster, it certainly takes the edge off. Kind of like what we imagine drinking an ice cold glass of blue milk in the Mos Eisley Cantina feels like.

As part of its massive promotional campaign, Disney released character posters of Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), Chirrut ÃŽmwe (Donnie Yen), K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), with Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen) and Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker). You can see the complete set in our gallery below.

These new character posters borrow an aesthetic first seen on last week’s new one-sheet reveal, namely that of having the blueprints for the Death Star overlaid on the faces of our heroes. Each poster shows one of the protagonists –plus the villain, Director Orson Krennic–standing in darkness, bathed in a glowing blue light with the aforementioned blueprints projected on to their faces. They are stark, moody images that do a tremendous job at conveying the more serious tone that Rogue One has displayed so far in all of its trailers.

Now let’s start taking bets on which of these characters will actually survive this film.
