Later this month, the fourth and final season of Star Wars Rebels will blast off with the two-part premiere, “Heroes of Mandalore.†As the name suggests, Ezra and his friends will be attempting to pay back their debt to Sabine by helping her home world overthrow the Imperial occupation. But in the newly released trailer for season four, Grand Admiral Thrawn’s shadow looms as he boasts about a weapon that will bring Mandalore to its knees. Judging by Sabine’s emotional reaction, she may have taken this loss personally.
Despite Thrawn’s threat, the fight is far from over. Although The Clone Wars‘ veteran Bo-Katan Kryze appears in the trailer, it’s Sabine who leads her people into battle with the Darksaber. Sabine has previously stated her intention to find the next leader for her world, and some fans assumed that Bo-Katan would have that honor. But our money is on Sabine herself.
There’s a definite sense of finality to this trailer, and to the overall series now that we know the endgame is in sight. Rogue One revealed that at least two characters make it out of the show alive: Hera and Chopper. Everyone else is fair game, especially with the fates of Ezra and Kanan in the balance. One way or another, we’ll soon discover what became of the Ghost’s crew before A New Hope.
Star Wars Rebels season four will premiere on October 16 on Disney XD.
