Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Returns in STAR WARS REBELS Preview

The fourth and final season of Star Wars Rebels is here, and the two-part season premiere is bringing the action back to Mandalore. Last season, Sabine claimed the Darksaber and reunited with her family to free their homeworld from the Empire. However, Sabine refused to claim the leadership mantle for herself and said that she would give the Darksaber to Mandalore’s rightful leader. In this preview scene from the season premiere, Sabine is true to her word when she meets the legendary Bo-Katan.

IGN posted this advance clip, which features Katee Sackhoff reprising her role as Bo-Katan Kryze from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In that series, Bo-Katan was a member of Death Watch and the sister of Duchess Satine, one of the previous rulers of Mandalore. While the Darksaber could legitimize Bo-Katan’s claim to lead her people, her refusal to accept it opens the door for someone else to fill that role.

My theory is that Sabine will be the next leader of her people. Frankly, I feel that she’s earned the right; it’s part of her personal redemption for creating the weapons that the Empire used against her own people. Sabine’s history with weapons of mass destruction may once again come into play within this episode, as a recent trailer seemed to indicate that Grand Admiral Thrawn has once again unleashed Sabine’s creations against the people that she loves.

“Heroes of Mandalore” Parts 1 and 2 will premiere on Monday, October 16 on Disney XD.
