Could Liam Neeson Return as Qui-Gon Jinn for an Obi-Wan STAR WARS Movie?

Could Ben Affleck and Chris Hemsworth be saying goodbye to their superhero characters right as Liam Neeson is getting ready to don his Jedi robes again? On today’s Nerdist News Talks Back we discussed the future of Batman, Thor, and Qui-Gon Jinn, along with lots more from the galaxy far, far away.

Host Jessica Chobot was joined today by Mothership writer Amy Vorpahl, as well as producers Derek Johnson and Jesse Gill. They started with the latest rumors Ben Affleck might end his time as Batman in Flashpoint. Do we think this is really his swan song as the bat? Would we prefer Jake Gyllenhaal or Jon Hamm down the suit for Matt Reeves trilogy? Is there someone else they should consider? And is it smart for those movies to be totally independent from the rest of the DCEU, or should the studio slow down and find a way to make it all work?

Speaking of superhero goodbyes, Chris Hemsworth said he’s done with Thor after Avengers 4 wrapped…but then he said he and Taika Waititi are kicking around ideas for a fourth installment. So which is it? Could Marvel recast the character? And what about his comment the next two Avengers movies have 76 combined characters between them? Is that too many people to keep track of?

Finally it was time for a Star Wars roundup, including Liam Neeson answering questions about whether or not he’d return as Qui-Gon Jinn in an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie. Do we think this could really happen? Do we want it to? What about the report that Disney scrapped the old EU because it was the only way to keep Chewie alive for the new sequel trilogy? Was the fuzzball worth upsetting fans? Are we planning on being at Disney on day one for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction? And does that first official (lacking) Solo synopsis a sign we might actually get a trailer soon?

Nerdist News Talks Back airs live every weekday at 1:00 p.m. PT on our YouTube and Alpha channels, and we always want you to show up like a Force ghost and talk about whether or not Qui-Gon Jinn will show up himself.

We still want to hear from you about today’s topics, so talk back to us in the comments below.
