STAR WARS Celebration Announces Dates and Location for 2017

Plot your course for Orlando and punch it, because Star Wars Celebration will return to Florida in 2017! Star Wars Day isn’t traditionally a day for news to drop, so learning about the locale and dates for the next Celebration is a pleasant surprise. And the deal keeps getting better! The convention will take place on April 13-16, 2017. The last couple of Celebrations in Orlando were in August, and it was at least as hot as Jakku. But April? That means balmy, comfortable Naboo-like weather.

The Orange County Convention Center will host the event and tickets will go on sale on May 25 at 12p.m. PT. Celebration doesn’t traditionally sell out, but if you’re considering going, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to go ahead and purchase your passes. Given the dates, the focus of the convention will likely be Episode VIII, which will be released in December 2017.

Star Wars Celebration is different from other conventions in that the emphasis is put on the fans. In a press release, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said, “Star Wars Celebration has always been about the fans. It allows Lucasfilm to connect directly with the thousands of fans who have given their dedication and support to the world of Star Wars over the years, and is the perfect opportunity for us to give something back.”

You can purchase tickets and keep up with guest announcements at the Celebration website. And don’t forget: there’s still another Celebration pending! Celebration Europe is taking place this July in London. Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars

Are you planning to attend Celebration 2017? If so, throw your staff up a la a Tusken Raider in the comments.
