In the era before video games dominated arcades and consumed everyone’s attention spans, pinball games were king. And if you were a famous pop culture property–be it a TV show, movie, or comic book–you know you’d really made once you got your own officially licensed pinball machine. (Well, that and a lunch box. Can’t forget those.) Of course, the coolest pinball machines back in the day were based on none other than George Lucas‘ original Star Wars trilogy.
Now, company Stern Pinball has announced that it is marking 40 years of Lucas’ sci-fi epic with a special 40th anniversary Star Wars pinball machine. This would be the latest in a long tradition of Skywalker Saga pinball machines, following Data Eastâs beloved 1992 Star Wars model, and Segaâs 1997 version of Star Wars with its own pinball table, which was of course also based on the original trilogy. There was even a holographic version with a Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace pinball machine… which was automatically less cool, because Jar Jar.
There will be several  designs available for the 40th anniversary machine, including a Pro, Premium, and a Limited Edition. Each of these will feature the same playfield, but will have completely different designs. You can check out images of these down below in our gallery.
