New STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Behind The Scenes Video Has Us Positively Giddy

We are only a few scant days away from the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access, the first Star Trek television series in over twelve years. And needless to say, curiosity among Trekkers is at an all time high. Set ten years before the time of Kirk and Spock aboard the Enterprise, fans have been wondering how this new series’ visual aesthetic compare to that of previous Treks.

Now, CBS has released a new behind-the-scenes video focusing on the show’s production, featuring all-new interviews with cast and crew, giving fans a better idea of the intricate details that went into making this series. You can watch the video in full down below.

What new details can eagle-eyed Trekkers glean from this video? For starters, it gives us a fairly in-depth look at the new bridge of the Starship Shenzou, on which Michelle Yeoh‘s character serves as Captain, as well as updates to the Klingon‘s world, which look unlike anything we’ve seen for the Klingon race in any previous incarnation of Star Trek. It’s clear from watching the video that the production design and budget for this new series is definitely on a level we haven’t seen before on a Star Trek television series before — it all looks feature film quality.

We also get a glimpse at the brig of one of the Starfleet vessels — though because the show focuses on the Discovery and the Shenzou, we are not sure which ship exactly — as well as the Captain’s ready room. And blink and you miss it, but yes, there is a Tribble on board. Wouldn’t be Star Trek without one of those little guys, would it?

Star Trek: Discovery debuts on CBS and CBS All Access September 24.

Are you as excited as we are for this grand return to the Star Trek universe? Be sure to let us know down below in the comments.
