STAR TREK 50th Anniversary Build-A-Bears Are out of This World

With the Star Trek franchise’s 50th Anniversary coming up this September, we’ve seen product tie-in announcements of every sort celebrating the legendary sci-fi series’ “Big Five-Oh.” We’ve got everything from a new series of Barbie dolls, to a MAC cosmetics line, to actual real, spendable currency in Canada. Which is kind of hilarious, since in Gene Roddenberry’s utopian Star Trek future, there is no money, but hey…that’s a whole different story.

Now the Build-A-Bear company is joining in on the big celebration, and has announced a series of Teddy Bears inspired by the original 1960’s TV series. There’s a Mr. Spock bear, complete with pointed Vulcan ears and a phaser, and there’s a gold-shirted Bear too, which can be your bear stand-in for Captain Kirk. There are also blue shirted bears and even poor, unfortunate red shirt bears, who hopefully will have longer lifespans than those of their television inspiration. Unfortunately, no mini-skirted bears–sorry, Lt. Uhura fans.

Maybe the coolest one of all these however is the official 50th anniversary limited-edition bear. This particular black bear has a gold starfleet insignia on its shirt,  and the Star Trek logo on one paw. The other paw features a Star Trek 50th Anniversary logo. You can personalize it as well, with Star Trek clothing and accessories to make yourself the ultimate Teddy bear for the most hardcore of Trekkers . You can check out all the different styles of Star Trek bears in our gallery below, and to order one for yourself, be sure to head on over to the official Build-A-Bear website.
