In the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Yondu was fond of telling Star-Lord a.k.a Peter Quill that he kept the other Ravagers from eating him when he was a boy. And while the new Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Series wonât strictly follow the continuity of director James Gunnâs film, Star-Lordâs origin appears to be intact.
The first preview scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Series takes place shortly after Peter was abducted from Earth. Here, we see Yondu initiate young Peter into his new circumstances. But being eaten may be the least of Peterâs worries…
Will Friedle stars in the series as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, with Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall as Gamora, David Sobolov as Drax the Destroyer, Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot, and James Arnold Taylor as both Yondu and the telepathic dog known as Cosmo.
The storyline for the animated series finds Peter and the rest of the Guardians thrust into a quest for the Cosmic Seed, an object so powerful that it can create an entirely new universe…by destroying this one! To protect and eventually destroy the seed, the Guardians of the Galaxy will go up against Thanos, the Collector, the Grandmaster, and even Loki! And in this continuity, Ronan the Accuser isnât as dead as they thought he was.
A Guardians of the Galaxy preview episode will air on Saturday, September 5, before the series premieres on September 26, on Disney XD. But if you donât want to wait, an episode is already available on iTunes.
