Last night, Square Enix released their E3 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, finally revealing the release date for the HD RPG collection for the PS3: December 2, 2014.
What’s more, the trailer has a brief, Japanese-language tease for the currently in development Kingdom Hearts III. It’s not clear who the speakers are here – is anyone out there familiar enough with the Japanese-language voice cast to peg who this might be? In any event, what sounds like two speakers discuss the Keyblade war, a battle for light, and the coming darkness before we’re dumped out to the titles for Kingdom Heart III.
I won’t lie: I find the Kingdom Hearts stories largely inscrutable. They’ve got Game of Thrones-level backstory with alternate dimensions and Disney characters thrown into the mix. In fact, after completing Kingdom Hearts 3D on the 3DS, I absolutely can not tell you what happened in that game or what the stakes were.
So it should go without saying that I find them utterly fascinating.
Kingdom Hearts III is a ways off, but here’s what’s up with Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix:
“This trailer opens up with memorable scenes from KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX, and leads into key highlights, scenarios and gameplay from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX and cinematics from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Additionally, the storyline of KINGDOM HEARTS III is hinted at the end of the trailer.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will release in North America, December 2nd and 5th December 2014 in Europe, exclusively on the PlayStation®3.
The legacy of Kingdom Hearts continues with three magical journeys in one package in KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMIX:
· Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix
· Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX
· Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD remastered cinematics)”
So happy I can pre-order this as a birthday present for myself. Thank you for sharing this trailer. Sadly I’m not familiar enough with Japanese voice actors to tell who they used at the end of the trailer.
From what I remember of Kingdom Hearts 2+ Final Mix the Japanese version, that actually sounds like Axel/Lea at the KH3 japanese parts. So it seems more “PLAUSIBLE” for that. The other voice actor actually sounded like the voice actor for Leon/Squall, but it could also be another re-awoken former Organization member.
I still need to finish Birth By Sleep and play KH3DS
