Splitsider Releasing First Stand Up Film, A NIGHT AT WHIPLASH

Amidst NYC’s stacked comedy scene, the long going stand-up show known as Whiplash has established itself as one of the best shows throughout all five boroughs. Every Monday before 11PM, a long line has formed down the block leading to The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Chelsea for some of the funniest stand-up comedians on the planet, all for free within an intimate atmosphere. Now, the rest of the world will be able to see what has unquestionably been, for years, one of the best live comedy shows in NYC in a new stand-up film, A Night at Whiplash.

Presented by comedy 411 site Splitsider, A Night at Whiplash follows one particular evening of the show, hosted, as always, by Leo Allen. The line-up from that night was amazing from top-to-bottom, which is the norm for Whiplash.  This film will include performances by a handful of hysterical comedians including Janeane Garofalo, Michael Che, Sean Patton, Jared Logan, Eugene Mirman, Carmen Lynch, and Sheng Wang. Hopefully, you’d be familiar with these names for how damn funny they all are and their wide range of TV and film appearances. If you’re not familiar, take notice  that all of their well deserved credits combined run the entire gamut of stand-up on television from late night to specials, as well as innumerable TV shows, etc. Basically, you’re getting a night of comedy from stand-ups that could all, individually, do a fantastic comedy special.

This trailer for A Night at Whiplash  showcases all of this and gives a good taste of Whiplash to those of you who don’t live anywhere near UCB Chelsea (i.e. anywhere that isn’t the Greater NYC area). Also, note that the profits from this film will go directly to every comedian involved in making of the movie, an unfortunately rare, but wonderful thing to hear in this day’s comedy world. For $5, you can get a DRM-free download of A Night at Whiplash– the seemingly preferred method of consuming comedy specials/concert films these days– and enjoy all of this comedy goodness at your own leisure.
