Sonic Looks Majestic Running On Unreal Engine 4

Was watching Mario blankly stare at a wall in some random kitchen not strange enough for you? How about Sonic running around a hyper realistic grassy hill? Youtube user CryZENx has released a video of our (maybe?) favorite speedy hedgehog in full Unreal Engine 4 style. The video runs about 2 minutes long, and has the blue speedster running about a grassy hillside. While everything looks majestic, Sonic does seems a bit out of place. Not that we aren’t used to seeing him run through grassy scenery, but this is no Green Hill Zone. Maybe it’s the lack of half pipes and loops that disturbs me the most.

This little short is a mash-up of the kite demo with Sonic. The YouTuber did the same thing while subbing in Mario, which manages to look even weirder. Where are the Goombas when you need them? Peep both videos above.

This isn’t the first time that Mr. Mustache himself has gotten this makeover. As for Sonic, unfortunately, a new glossy paint job won’t be enough to fix his reputation and cement his future as a staple in the gaming world. His lackluster titles of late are making his fantastic past, murkier and murkier by the game. Once upon a time, he was Mario’s most prominent rival. Now, he’s stuck in an endless loop of horrible reboots. I still believe that one day, he will rise from the ashes and back to prominence.

Until that day comes, we can continue gawking at these gorgeous videos. What would you like to see in future installments of the fastest hedgehog out there? Race your way into the comments section below. You can also send Tweet me your most random Sonic jokes: @collegescrubz.
