SEGA has just rolled out a new trailer for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric at Gamescom and it features some fearsome foes who’ve got the blue hedgehog and his fellow furry friends scrambling to stay on their feet.
In the latest trailer for Rise of Lyric, Sonic is joined by Knuckles, Tails, and Amy in a new take on the beloved franchise. Instead of having to speed through levels collecting golden rings, there’s emphasis on exploration and combat. A breath of fresh air, if you ask me.

Though Dr. Robotnik is still the OG of Sonic baddies, this new snake-like creature is giving the ol’ doc a run for his money. Wanting to rid the world of all-things living for a more robotic way of life is a pretty neat concept, especially because this time around, Sonic is saving not just the other animals of the world, but organic life as a whole. Glad that he has his buds around for this uphill battle, especially since each ally is capable of a unique ability (like Knuckles ability to climb walls and Tails flying abilities and gadgets).
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric releases in the US on November 18th exclusively for the Wii U, while Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal launches November 11th for the 3DS. Those in Europe will get both games on November 21st.
