The Only Way to Run Through Glass Is in Super Slow-Mo

Don’t try running through a plate glass window, because you will die. We cannot stress this enough. When the glass breaks it will be very sharp, and it will cut you and then you’ll be dead. That should really go without saying, but we find it best to take all precautions. However, if you are The Slow Mo Guys and your new YouTube show gives you access to safety glass and trained stunt professionals, then you can set up your camera and capture some amazing footage.

In the fourth segment from the premiere episode of their new series The Super Slow Show, Dan and Gavin went full Hollywood by having Gavin run through a pane of glass. He went through breakaway glass first, which left a cartoon-esque Gavin-shaped hole behind. The guys then upped the difficulty to tempered glass, which required Dan to detonate a small explosive to make the glass break as Gavin jumped through. Watch what happens:

There’s something immensely satisfying about watching glass shatter. The way it seems to defy time, even when it’s captured with a super slow-motion camera, by instantly going from a full pane into a million little pieces is remarkable. No wonder it’s such a popular movie trope.

Although we really wish there were some way for filmmakers to stress that the actors aren’t jumping through real glass. Don’t do that. Seriously.

What other classic Hollywood stunt should the guys try on their new show? Tell us your best ideas in the comments below.
