Imagine, if you will, a strange alternate reality in which our very own senior editor, Dan Casey is the host of a bizarre Japanese game show. That show is Slow-mo Destructo, and it’s not only real, it’s back on Nerdist after premiering on Spotify earlier this summer!
Basically, the premise of Slow-mo Destructo is that we gather famous musicians and toss them into a game show with trivia questions that they couldn’t possibly answer correctly. And if you don’t understand what Dan is saying, don’t worry. We can’t either! But in Slow-mo Destructo, all roads lead to the same destination: smashing stuff with a massive hammer (which Dan has previously described as “the Hammer of Destiny) in glorious slow motion. Why? Because why the hell not?! As long as they’re smash-able, any object is fair game!
For today’s episode, Dan is joined by Nico (also known as Kahouly Nicolay Sereba) and Vinz (who also goes by Vincent Dery), the two halves of a hip hop/R&B duo hailing all the way from Oslo, the capital of Norway! Nico and Vinz may not have known quite what to expect from this show, but they did dress for the occasion.
You can catch our debut episode of Slow-mo Destructo with rapper Ty Dolla $ign here. Other episodes that have been filmed included guests Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave, Toby Morse of H2O, Zoe Reign of No Parents, and comedian Margaret Cho.
What did you think about this episode of Slow-mo Destructo? Are you looking forward to seeing more episodes? You’ll get bonus points if you leave your comments in Japanese!
