Bethesda fans around the world rejoice! Mod support for the PS4 versions of Skyrim and Fallout 4 is finally on the way. Despite being promised quite some time ago, fans of the aforementioned games were saddened a few weeks ago when the publisher took to the web to break the news that aid might come after all. Thankfully, Bethesda was persistent and announced that the mods were finally on the way via Twitter and a post on their official website.
“Mod support will come to Skyrim first,” Bethesda explained in an update on their site. “We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible. Mods on PlayStation 4 will allow you to modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit available here. You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do. By creating a Bethesda.net account, youâll be able to browse and try mods right from within the game.”
According to the publisher, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will support mods when it launches on October 28th. Aside from the mods, the other big reveal was that both games would feature 4K support on the highly anticipated Playstation 4 Pro. So far, the results are stunning. Bethesda shared a sneak peek of Skyrim‘s 4K glory. Feast your eyes on those images above, below, and at the top of the page.
I for one can’t wait to dive into Skyrim in 4K. Once the updates have been rolled out for Skyrim, the company will be focusing on Fallout 4. All of this is an exciting reminder that delicious 4K console gaming is just around the corner.
The PS4 Pro is set to launch in the US and Canada on November 10 for $399.99.
