Sideshow Bob Will Return to THE SIMPSONS for Treehouse of Horror

Harry Shearer may be gone, but at least one more familiar voice will be back on The Simpsons next fall.

Kelsey Grammer will reprise his role as Sideshow Bob during The Simpsons Season 27. This will be Grammer’s 17th appearance on the show as Sideshow Bob, and it may be one of his most memorable stories if the early media attention is any indication.

There are full spoilers ahead! Stop reading now if you don’t want to know why Sideshow Bob is back!

Because the answer is obvious. Sideshow Bob is going to try to kill his nemesis, Bart Simpson. And this time, Bob is going to succeed. But only in this year’s Treehouse of Horror Halloween special, so Bart probably won’t even be dead after the commercial break.

Executive producer Al Jean said, “I’m one of the people that always wanted the coyote to eat the roadrunner. I hated frustration comedy so we’ll scratch that itch.”

The Halloween segment is expected to feature Bob after he’s killed Bart as he attempts to find a new purpose in life. But since it is The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror, Bart will probably get his supernatural revenge.

Grammer made his first appearance as Sideshow Bob all the way back in the first season of The Simpsons in 1990. Although Bart exposed Sideshow Bob’s scheme to frame Krusty the Clown for robbery, Bob’s vendetta against Bart didn’t begin until the fifth season episode, “Cape Feare”  in 1993.

Sideshow Bob is also the closest thing to a supervillain that the series has outside of Mr. Burns. Sideshow Bob has been used as the primary villain in The Simpsons Ride at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios, in addition to several appearances in The Simpsons comic books and video games.
