Welcome back, everyone. It’s been ages since the last edition of TV-Cap, and we have a few things to catch up on. Read on to see a new promo for this week’s Arrow-verse crossover, to learn about Anne Rice regaining rights for The Vampire Chronicles on television, and more.
It’s Aliens. The Arrow-verse is going to confront aliens. The four-night crossover kicks off November 28 (tonight) on Supergirl and keeps rolling. A new two-minute promo gives us the most footage yet from the Heroes vs. Aliens event and shows all sorts of exciting action and fun quips. This crossover business is becoming one of my favorite weeks of TV all year. [TVLine]
Where You Lead… Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has come and, for some of us, gone. The four-part miniseries made up for the disaster that was season seven, but the last four words opened the door for more storytelling. No, I’m not going to spoil them. But, if you want to hear from Amy Sherman-Palladino about a possible future for Gilmore Girls and are okay with spoilers, read this interview at The Hollywood Reporter.
Respect the Magic. Syfy is taking us all to Fillory soon for season two of The Magicians. A new trailer actually shows the students have big shoes to step into in the world and an equally big bad to face. The Magicians will be back on January 25. [CBR]
Expanding. Arrow was the first DC superhero series on The CW, and the ranks have only expanded. But who would Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim choose to focus on in another Arrow-verse spinoff? Maybe Heat Wave. Hey, it could work. Read Guggenheim’s comments here at Nerdist.
Mayor Sub. Back to the world of Star City, Sydney learned who the cast and showrunners would choose to be mayor of the troubled town instead of Oliver. How qualified is he? You can review their choices right this way.
Uncle Sherlock. That look Sherlock has on his face upon glancing at Watson and Mary’s baby? I so get that. He’ll be an uncle when season four of Sherlock premieres in the U.S. and U.K. on January 1, and PBS has released a few first look photos from the season ahead. You can see two above and three more in the gallery below. Toby Jones is looking rather intimidating as Culverton Jones, isn’t he? Lestat on TV? The Vampire Chronicles could finally be coming to television. Author Anne Rice recently got the rights to the property back since a movie reboot of Interview with the Vampire is no longer happening. So now, Rice and her son are working on a pilot script and outline about Lestat’s story. I am quite intrigued because the rules about what can be done on TV have changed so much in the past decade. Learn more about the possible TV series from Rice here at Nerdist.
Recaps 4Ever. Though many of us took the weekend off, new television did not. If you’re in a catch-up sort of mood (very different from a ketchup sort of mood), read these recaps:
Dirk Gently
Westworld
Star Wars Rebels
The Walking Dead
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
Did you binge anything other than Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life over the long weekend? Head to the comments and tell me about what you caught up on.
