SHARKNADO 3 Bloody Shark Cookies

The day has come, weather fans. Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! is on the horizon! More blood, gore, and improbable shark attacks are coming to television when Syfy unleashes the third installment of the greatest shark-weather-formation trilogy ever to be made.

If you’re hosting a viewing party and a huge Sharknado cake seems like too much to handle, never fear: the answer is cookies. (The answer is always cookies.) Fierce and adorable, this sugary blood-thirsty weather system is ready for action. These cookies are fun to serve at your shark-themed party and easy to choke down when the severed body parts start to fly on screen.

Sharknado Cookies recipe-07202015

Bloody Shark Cookies
ingredients:
-3 cups all-purpose flour
-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-pinch of salt
-1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-1 cup sugar
-1 egg
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-Super Black food gel dye
-white icing
-black icing
-red icing

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until combined.

Add the egg and vanilla and just one drop of black food gel dye. You want to make sure the dough is gray and not too dark.

Add the flour mixture, then turn the mixer on high until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Separate the dough into two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the fridge.

When you are ready to make cookies preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep cookie sheets with silpats or parchment.

Roll out the dough to 3/8” thick and cut out the cookies with a shark cookie cutter and place onto the prepped baking sheets. If you want the sharks to have some movement, curve the tails and change their positions.

Bake for 10 minutes and let cool on a wire rack.

Once the cookies are cool, use a #3 tip to add a white icing underbelly to the bottom half of the shark.

Add details with a #2 tip and black frosting to add an eye and the gills.

With a #3 tip, pipe red frosting in an oval shape for the bloody mouth. Go back over that with a #2 tip and white frosting to make tiny teeth.

Once the frosting has set the shark cookies are ready to serve.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! airs on July 22 at 9/8c on Syfy.
