Sex Nerd Sandra #194: Stripping: Part 1 with Erika Moen, Hazel and The Baroness plus Matt Kirshen and Kira Soltanovich!

LAP DANCES! Recorded live at Portland’s Dante’s, it’s a packed show. FIRST, enjoy stand-up comedy by Matt Kirshen. THEN comedian Kira Soltanovich joins for a rousing debate about whether strippers are like comedians. THEN, artist, cartoonist and guest co-host Erika Moen (OJST) and Sandra share their very different fascinations with strip clubs. FINALLY, lady strippers Hazel and The Baroness teach Erika and Sandra how to work in a strip club, give a lap dance and as a customer, how to behave. Listen in to Part 2 – MALE STRIPPERS!

Erika Moen is a freelance cartoonist born June 25, 1983 and graduated with an Illustrated Storytelling self-designed degree from Pitzer College in 2006. She lives in Portland, Oregon where she has been a member of Periscope Studio since 2008. Having created comics for well over a decade, her work has been published by Dark Horse, Image, Villard and Scholastic, among many others. In addition to creating comics, she also regularly teaches classes and guest lectures on the subject in high schools and colleges around the country. She has been happily married to Matthew Nolan since October 2008.

Yes! You can hire her for your needs pertaining to comics, illustration, storyboarding, character design, and all-purpose-arting or to be a guest at your convention or speak/teach at your school. Contact her to learn more.

London born Matt Kirshen‘s precision wit has earned him an impressive reputation on the international comedy circuit. More recently his appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Paul Provenza’s Green Room, The Nerdist, and as a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing has earned him a whole new host of fans in the United States and a surprising number of other countries worldwide.

He has also recorded a half-hour special for The World Stands Up (Comedy Central) and has acclaimed festival appearances in Montreal, Edinburgh, Kilkenny, Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, Bermuda, and San Francisco, amongst many others.

His debut CD I Guess We’ll Never Know was named in Punchline Magazine’s top 10 albums of 2009, and his hit appearance at the 2008 Just For Laughs festival in Montreal resulted in no fewer than 4 of his gags appearing in the Montreal Gazette’s round up of their best jokes of the fest.

Matt has appeared in and written for numerous television shows in the UK, including a charity gala featuring Jimmy Fallon, which resulted in Jimmy himself requesting Matt to open for him in a college tour to promote his new Late Night hosting slot.

His youthful looks disguise a veteran comic with over a decade of experience, and a wealth of smart, funny and relatable material, making him a firm favorite with all audiences. While it’s his prime-time NBC appearances that many comedy fans will recognize him from, they are often surprised at the breadth and scope of his material, described by one reviewer as “intelligent, but with the emphasis firmly on the funny.”

Kira Soltanovich grew up in San Francisco during a time when there were bad neighborhoods, cheap coffee and it wasn’t ironic to ride the cable cars. She began her career in comedy back in 1998 right after asking her immigrant Russian parents if they were supportive of her desire to become a stand up comedian. After her mother and father confessed “It’s not like you’re smart enough to be a doctor,” Kira took that as their blessing to pursue her dreams. and she’s never looked back.

She was a series regular on the hidden camera show Girls Behaving Badly for 4 seasons, and was a correspondent on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for over 8 years.

Kira has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly, Hell’s Kitchen, Last Comic Standing, Set List TV, Nick Mom, Hello Ross!, and The World Stands Up. She has written and performed with Joan Rivers, Scott Baio, Selena Gomez, and Justin Bieber. And if that doesn’t impress you, I don’t know what will.

She’s been a writer on How’d You Get So Rich? for TV Land, Raising Whitley on Oxygen, and Prankstars on Disney. Currently Kira is a series regular on How To Be A Grownup for TruTV.

Her half hour Showtime special, Here Comes Trouble, won Best Stand Up Special by a Soviet.*

Kira’s four year old son inspired her to have her very own podcast. On The Kira Soltanovich Show, Kira interviews other fellow comedians who have kids, and they discuss all things comedy and colic related.
