Thereâs no denying people love twists on their childhood, and with a total worldwide gross of $550 million at the box office, Seth MacFarlane’s 2012 comedy, Ted, was definitely one of the most outlandish to date. Now, with the popularity of the character cemented, MacFarlane is hoping to make lightning strike twice with this summerâs sequel, Ted 2⦠and guess what? We finally have out first full length trailer to laugh at. Check it out:
Itâs hard to understand why, but something about all these horrible things coming out of the mouth of an anthropomorphic teddy bear just hits home.
At the moment, R-rated comedies are big money, so itâs no surprise Universal is hoping to turn Ted’s antics into a franchise. Our only hope is that the studio didnât give MacFarlane too much more money to make the film happen. The first one was done on a budget of $50 million, and that was a number just high enough to make Ted feel real, but not so high that the film felt too outlandish for its own good. One of the hardest lines the sequelâs going to have to walk is balancing the raising of stakes (which the plot of Ted fighting for his humanity seems to be) without going super over the top. In order for Ted to be funny, he has to be just barely real, and pulling that off doesnât necessarily happen with a bigger budget.
Ted 2 hits theaters June 26, 2015.
