Seth Green’s “Star Wars Detours” is Blowing up Like a Death Star

We’ve heard rumblings for a while that Seth Green was going to be involved in a comedy series set in the Star Wars universe, and attendees of Star Wars Celebration VI just got a surprise first look at Star Wars Detours. It seems that after viewing all the various parodies out there, like on Robot Chicken and Family Guy, George Lucas decided to bring his own version to the table, and as the clip full of super-deformed spoofs makes clear, he’s happy to allow all sorts of irreverent mockery. Hell, even Ahmed Best voices his notorious Gungan goofball in a skit making fun of everybody hating Jar Jar.

Like the newly revamped Star Tours ride, Star Wars Detours is set between trilogies, allowing characters and worlds from both to appear: in addition to Best, Billy Dee Williams will be returning to the role of Lando, while Anthony Daniels voices Threepio. Other regular voice cast members will include Donald Faison, Felicia Day, and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

There’s already an official Facebook page up with even more exclusive clips, as well as introductions to two original characters – the incompetent Stormtroopers Super Ace and Killer. What we don’t have yet is an official release date, which makes us as impatient as a farm boy staring at a dual sunset.

  4. Chad H says:

When I heard Seth MacFarlane as Palp, I was sold

  5. Pedak says:

This looks awfully awesome! And it’s further proof that Star Wars is best when Lucas let’s creative people work on it.

  6. Bender says:

Loved the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials, so really looking forward to this!

  7. I’m proud of Star Wars fans! Out of about 3 pages of YouTube comments I looked out, only about 5-8 said things like “Final nail in the coffin”, “Can we stop ruining the original trilogy?”, and “WTF?”. Everyone seems to get that this is more in the vain of the Robot Chicken specials than the Clone Wars series.

Also, extra points on having the RC actors voice their characters in this. Seth Green as Obi Wan? Breckin Meyer as Boba Fett and Admiral Ackbar? Zeb Wells as… his character? Seth FREAKING MacFarlane as Palpatine?! Awesome on every single level! The only person missing is Donald Faison, and I have a feeling I might have missed him in the preview!

  8. Eye-Roller Lass says:

The dance scenes parodying the kinect game are perfect!

  9. DarthLurtz says:

    This looks great.

That said, Billy Dee Williams has been doing voice work as Lando for some time now. And he somehow always nails the part!
