See What David Bowie Was Doing at Your Age

On January 8, David Bowie will release his 25th(!) studio album, ★ (pronounced Blackstar). That’s also his birthday, when Bowie turns 69 years old.

Bowie has done a lot with his 69 years, enough to make you feel super bad about your accomplishments. Or, to look at it in a more optimistic light, seeing what Bowie has been able to achieve throughout his life can be a valuable lesson in the results of hard work and commitment.

Bowie might not be a fair measuring stick against which to pit yourself because odds are, he’s been around longer than you have. But what if you could find out what he did when he was your age? You could browse the internet and figure that out, or you could streamline the process by checking out the website, “What Did David Bowie Do At Your Age?” at supbowie.com.

For our younger readers: at 16, Bowie graduated high school and got a job at an advertising agency, and at 17, he released his first single. At 23 years old, he married his first wife and released his third album, The Man Who Sold The World, the title track of which was famously covered by Nirvana during their MTV Unplugged special. Meanwhile, I’m 23 and have a hard time remembering that I put a load of laundry in the dryer an hour ago.

Scroll through the chronology of Bowie’s productivity here, and let us know in the comments what the Thin White Duke was doing at your age.
